Japan signs first South American free trade pact

Chilean Foreign Minister Alejandro Foxley has signed a bilateral free trade agreement in Tokyo with his Japanese counterpart Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso, Japan's first such pact with a South American country.

Chile trade delegation visits Australia

A Chilean trade delegation to Australia will attempt to forge stronger mining links between the two countries. The 15-man delegation is led by Chile's trade commissioner to Australia, Marcelo Salas.

Seventeen Bolivians and Two Peruvians Arrested

Seventeen Bolivians and Two Peruvians were arrested for entering the country on foot and without papers and intending to work in Chile. The illegal immigrants were planning to travel to the extreme north in order to hide from police. They were handed over to the Investigative Police for deportation.
