The slander conviction of Chilean journalist Victor Gutierrez, who alleged that a former Miss Universe had had an affair with Brazilian author Paulo Coelho while engaged to a former Argentine President, was upheld by the Supreme Court last Wednesday. The Court fined the journalist $48,000 in damages.It can also be remembered that Gutierrez was fined $2.7 million after accusing Michael Jackson of child molestation in 1998.
