Mapuche rebel leader detained (human rights)

Posted by Shannon: (human rights) Jorge Huenchullan was detained on February 17 and sent to the Algol prison. Collipulli's Court termed Huenchullan a fugitive from justice. AT the time of his arrest he was with two other rebels who have also been charged. The Chilean Communist Party has denounced outrages taking place for months in that region. Human Rights investigation brings indictment (human rights)

Agustin Pinochet's 17 year rule resulted in an indictment handed down on Dec 13th. The 89 year-old former leader was also declared fit to stand trial and is currently under house arrest.
