Dam opponents speak out against Swiss proposal

Saying that it comes up short, particularly as regards the social impact it will have, opponents of the plan by Swiss mining company Xstrata to build a large hydroelectric dam on Chile's Cuervo River voiced their opinions this week to the National Environmental Commission (CONAMA).

Chile's skies to aim for pollution free status

Chilean astronomers are taking there case to UNESCO in Chile’s next big environmental battle this week when they announced that they would seek to have Chile’s skies declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
