Michelle Bachelet's visit to Cuba last month was the first Presidential visit of a Chilean President to the Central American nation since 1972. This may well prove to be a sign of strengthening relationships between the two countries.
The Chilean President visited Cuba for the XVIII International Book Fair, for which Chile is this year's guest of honor.
Among the South American nations, Chile and Cuba are not the best of friends, as Chile is seen as more pro-US than pro-South America.
